Come stay with us
Free time is so precious – we all want to make the most of it! So we are committed to making your stay at Radnor House as relaxed as possible. ‘Home-from-home’ but with extra treats and special touches.
If you’re looking for somewhere secluded for a romantic weekend away, a special place to share with family and friends, luxury accommodation for exploring the historic book town and the Brecon Beacons, or just a relaxing haven after sampling one of Hay’s wonderful eateries – then you’re in the right place!
A warm welcome
You’ve arrived! Please relax after your journey – we’ll help you settle in, or just leave you to your own devices.
If you are in the mood, we will make you a fresh pot of tea or coffee. There’s home made cake in your room, along with fresh milk in your silent mini-fridge and a wide range of organic tea and ground coffee bags.
You can wander into town to browse the bookshops and galleries, or catch the magical early evening light as you stroll beside the River Wye. Later, sample one of Hay’s excellent pubs or restaurants – or you are welcome to eat a take-away in our guest dining area.
Then relax back at the house after your day out. Please bring your own favourite books and games (we normally have plenty for you to borrow – but during the pandemic they are not available). And why not ask us to serve you a drink from our popular licenced bar?
The front cottage garden is there for everyone to enjoy, and has a stylish bench nestling under a honeysuckle arch. Feel free to take out drinks and cake!
How it works
We love welcoming guests new and old – but at the moment we recommend self check-in, which you can do anytime after 4 pm (earlier may be possible by arrangement).
We are also very happy to offer a social distanced face-to-face check-in from 4 pm – 7 pm if you prefer this. If you plan to arrive after 7 pm, please tell us so we can ensure we are here to welcome you.
We ask guests to leave by 10.30 am on their last morning.
We welcome all guests aged 16 and over (children of all ages are welcome if you book the whole house). Unfortunately, we do not accept dogs (unless you book the whole house). We keep our own adorable dog, Ruby, completely away from guests – as we live separately at the rear of the house.
We have always paid great attention to cleaning and hygiene throughout the house. We have successfully applied for the UK-wide “Good to Go” Industry Standard, which shows that we are following official guidelines on cleanliness and social distancing, and we have signed up to Sawday’s ‘Clean and Safe’ Charter. You can rest assured that we have done everything possible to keep you safe during your visit – see full details here.
Planning your stay
Detailed guidance for your visit is emailed to all guests when you book. This includes full information about what is available in your room, so you can plan what to bring with you. Please contact us if you have any questions or requests.
We are happy to tell you about our favourite walks, shops, cafes, markets etc, and have an up to date list of the openings times of just about everything locally!
We also offer a full concierge service – arranging anything from canoeing/biking, artisan bread/cheese making, yoga and pilates, glass blowing, to guided hikes and riverside picnics.
We can store bikes securely. If it’s wet or muddy, you can dry out your boots and hang up any wet clothes in the downstairs hall if you wish.
“Just back from a perfect stay at Radnor House – cosy, welcoming, comfortable and clean. Wonderful breakfast and relaxing atmosphere. Great situation in the middle of Hay – looking forward to going back.”

Radnor House is all about having a peaceful and friendly space to relax. But for extra seclusion, or simply a chance to catch up with a group of family and friends, you can create your own personal “bubble” by booking the whole house at a hugely reduced price – up to 40% less than individual room rates!
Think of it as a super-stylish, self-catering holiday cottage, available for as many or as few nights as you want.
You can cook for yourselves – whole house bookings include exclusive use of an under counter fridge, microwave, toaster, and tea/coffee making facilities. Delicious, home made breakfasts and evening meals are optional extras.
Children of all ages, and dogs, are welcome. The house sleeps 8 – and in addition Room 1 has plenty of space for a travel cot or camp bed.
